Japanese Cedar Pollen-Based Subcutaneous Immunotherapy Decreases Tomato Fruit-Specific Basophil Activation

چکیده

Background: Some patients with Japanese cedar pollen (JCP)-induced allergic rhinitis develop pollen-food allergy syndrome (PFAS) as a reaction to tomato fruit. Pollen allergen-specific subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) is reportedly beneficial for some associated food allergies; however, the reported changes in food allergen-specific immunoglobulin (Ig)E and IgG 4 levels are inconsistent. Here, we investigated immunologic reactivity to tomato fruit after JCPbased SCIT. Methods: Twenty-three children (aged 6–17 years) with JCP-induced allergic rhinitis and sensitized to tomato (serum tomato fruit-specific IgE level >0.34 UA/ml) received JCP-based SCIT. Basophil activation by tomato and JCP extracts and serum-specific IgE and IgG 4 levels against these allergens were determined before and after 4 or 5 months of maintenance SCIT. Basophil activation was assessed by monitoring CD203c upregulation on flow cytomReceived: August 13, 2014 Accepted after revision: July 1, 2015 Published online: August 18, 2015 Correspondence to: Dr. Chisato Inuo Department of Pediatrics, Fujita Health University 1–98 Dengakugakubo, Kutsukake-cho Toyoake, Aichi 470–1192 (Japan) E-Mail inuo @ mbh.nifty.com © 2015 The Author(s) Published by S. Desensitization effect of preseasonal seven-injection allergoid immunotherapy with olive pollen on basophil activation: the efficacy of olive pollen-specific preseasonal allergoid immunotherapy on basophils.

BACKGROUND It has previously been demonstrated that subcutaneous immunotherapy with allergoids positively affects clinical and immunological parameters even after 7 preseasonal injections. However, its effect on basophil activation remains unclear. We investigated the effect of preseasonal allergoid immunotherapy on basophils and concomitantly assessed its clinical and immunological efficacy in...

Efficacy and Safety of Sublingual Immunotherapy for Two Seasons in Patients with Japanese Cedar Pollinosis

Background: Japanese cedar (JC) pollinosis is the most common seasonal allergic rhinitis in Japan. Standardized JC pollen extract is available for subcutaneous immunotherapy, but this treatment is limited by potentially serious side effects. The aim of this double-blind, randomized comparative study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of standardized JC pollen extract in a new oral formulat...

Prophylactic Sublingual Immunotherapy for Japanese Cedar Pollinosis

Sublingual immunotherapy is much safer than conventional percutaneous immunotherapy. This is the only treatment available which can completely cure the disease. A randomized, placebocontrolled, double-blind study has revealed that sublingual immunotherapy is both effective and safe for the patient with this pollinosis [3]. Only recently, standardized Japanese cedar pollen extract became availab...

Seasonal omalizumab reduces allergen-specific immunoglobulin E levels in patients with Japanese cedar pollinosis and asthma.

In Japan, Japanese cedar pollinosis (JCP) is one of the most prevalent forms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (AR). The JC pollen scattering period starts at the beginning of February and finishes at the end of April. JCP and asthma present concurrently; a previous survey showed that the prevalence of JCP in patients with asthma might be up to 30%--50%. Moreover, JCP is often associated with exace...
